Heritage museums to offer free admission on May 18

TEHRAN - Entry will be free to heritage museums across Iran on May 18, which marks the International Museum Day.

The scheme involves museums and historical sites which are affiliated with the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization,” the CHHTO announced in a press release on Monday.

According to the International Council of Museums (ICOM), the objective of International Museum Day is to raise awareness of the fact that “Museums are an important means of cultural exchange, enrichment of cultures and development of mutual understanding, cooperation and peace among people.

The theme chosen for 2018 is “Hyperconnected museums: New approaches, new publics”.

Last year, Over 36,000 museums participated in the event in some 157 countries.
